If you are a U.S veteran, you may be eligible for reimbursement of the Zend PHP 5.3 certification exam expenses under the GI Bill. PHP is a popular programming language and many of websites are built using PHP as the core language. Candidates passing the PHP 5.3 certification earns you the industry recognized credential of “Zend Certified Engineer”.
If you’re eligible, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) can reimburse you for the certification exam. The test must be approved for VA purposes. Generally, the Department of Veteran Affairs must receive your request within one year of when your taking the exam, regardless of whether you pass the certification.

How to Apply For Reimbursement
To apply for test reimbursement, send the Department of Veteran Affairs a signed and dated request with the following information. You must provide this information each time you take the test.
- Your name, address and Social Security number or VA claim number
- The name of the test you took and the date you took it
- A copy of the test results for each test taken, whether or not you passed it
- The name and address of the organization issuing the certificate/license. Note that the certificate issuing authority may not necessarily be the same organization that administered the certification exam
- The cost of each test
NOTE: The Department of Veteran Affairs will not reimburse you for registration fees, preparation guides, processing fees, etc.
